PCIC-compatible PCMCIA controller errors due to disabled mode.
Cause:
A CardBus PCMCIA controller is being used and is initialized by the BIOS to be backward compatible. When Windows 95 OEM Service Release 2 (OSR2) is installed, OSR2 disables the PCIC-Compatibility mode and configures the controllers for the CardBus controller. However, OSR2 does not remove the PCIC-compatible controller from Device Manager.
Solution:
Remove the PCIC-compatible controller from 'Device Manager'.
1) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
2) Select 'Settings' and select 'Control Panel'. (The 'Control Panel' window appears.)
3) Double-click the 'System' icon. (The 'System Properties' dialog box appears.)

4) Click the 'Device Manager' tab.
5) Select the 'PCIC-compatible Controller' from the 'View devices by type' list box.
6) Click 'Remove'. (The 'Confirm Device Removal' dialog box appears.)
7) Click 'Yes' to remove the 'PCIC-compatible Controller'.
8) Click 'OK' to close the 'System Properties' dialog box.
9) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Close' to exit the 'Control Panel' window.
